We have great pleasure to invite you to participate in the IMPACT2022 Conference, which will take place in Hong Kong on 18 November 2022 at Hotel ICON.

For more than a year, the world has seen how the COVID-19 pandemic cast doubt on many agreed-upon principles and practices in the global hospitality and tourism industry. In this new, unfamiliar territory, industry practitioners are eager to embrace evolving travel norms, and to rethink how the industry operates and build anew. The time has now come to turn the crisis into an opportunity by looking at the entire sector in a different light, and ramp up actions necessary to pave the way for its future development.

Co-organised by the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and its Hospitality and Tourism Research Centre together with STR, IMPACT2022 takes the theme “Embracing the New Normal”. With an aim to bridging the gap between hospitality and tourism academic research and industry practice, thereby creating an “impact” in the hospitality and tourism community, IMPACT2022 provides an ideal platform on which industry executives, government officials and academics are brought together to discuss global industry trends, exchange ideas, explore creative ways forward and debate on strategic frameworks towards sustainable practices and the reactivation of the industry.

IMPACT2022 is being run by a group of undergraduate students from the Special Events Class at the SHTM. These talented students have formed an organising committee to manage the conference and put together an enriching programme for our delegates from around the world, ensuring you an experience unlike any other.

We look forward to welcoming you to the conference and to Hong Kong!
